Welbeck, 35, has now scored ten in the Premier League for the second successive season, having failed to hit double figures in any of his previous 16 top-flight campaigns.
He has reached the tally this time despite failing to convert penalties at Everton and West Ham.
The striker was also notable for his effort around the pitch in general team pay.
He again had Jack Hinshelwood playing off him as Fabian Hurzeler went with the same XI as he used in the win at Brentford.
Asked about Welbeck’s efforts, the Seagulls boss said: “It’s his effort, it’s how he behaves as a professional, how he is there for the team off and on the pitch.
“I’ve been working with him for a couple of years now and he seems to be in his best shape ever.
“For me, it’s no coincidence with how hard he works. It’s just impressive.
“Together with our medical department, they do a great job.
“Together with his team-mates, he always tries to push himself and therefore, for me, it's no coincidence.”
Hurzeler will now weigh up his options for midweek as Albion prepare to face one of Welbeck’s former clubs in Arsenal.
