Fewer touches than Henderson: Glasner must drop Crystal Palace dud who was on par with Lacroix…

Crystal Palace controversially fell to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester United on Sunday afternoon, after racing into an early one-goal lead.

Maxence Lacroix beat Senne Lammens within the opening exchanges of the Premier League contest, after powering home a header from some lax marking by Leny Yoro.

However, he unfortunately became the villain of the game when he was controversially sent off in the second half, after tangling with Matheus Cunha before he could fire an effort at Dean Henderson.

Lacroix endured an extremely up-and-down afternoon, in truth, as he now sits out Palace's coming games due to his suspension.

Lacroix's performance vs Man Utd

It was a contentious moment that ultimately handed Michael Carrick's Red Devils a huge advantage in the latter stages of the game, as Benjamin Sesko continued his fine form in front of goal for the hosts, to snatch a 2-1 victory from the jaws of defeat.

On another day, Lacroix's afternoon would have been remembered for his powerful header finding the back of the net, but, instead, it was marred by his second-half dismissal.

He did look ropey in spurts before his red card changed the complexion of the match, with the number five only going on to win two of his nine duels in the game, alongside failing to win a single tackle.

Yet, he will still be missed for Palace's games to follow, as Oliver Glasner wrestles with a thin squad at Selhurst Park.

The Austrian will be frustrated that his team couldn't arrest their ongoing slide, despite putting in such a positive performance for the most part in Manchester.

Laxroic, however, was not the only underperformer at Old Trafford.

Palace star must be dropped after Man Utd

Sesko did what Jorgen Strand Larsen could not do at Old Trafford and stood out as an imposing marksman when firing Carrick's hosts into the lead, just seven minutes after Bruno Fernandes confidently put away his penalty kick.

At least the brand new Eagles singing attempted to change the course of the game with his two efforts on Lammens' net, as Daichi Kamada cut an unconvincing figure, otherwise, from the central midfield ranks.

Kamada would come off on the 85th minute mark, having offered very little to the clash from a Palace perspective, with only 51 touches of the ball amassed. Amazingly, Henderson - between the sticks for Glasner's men - accumulated even more, when finishing the defeat with a slightly heftier 58 touches.

Alongside his meagre touch total, the Japanese midfielder also failed to register a single shot at Lammens' net, while further coming up short when it came to duels, failing to win six of his 12 battles when fighting against the likes of Casemiro for the home side.

Daichi-Kamada

He was arguably fortunate not to be sent off alongside Lacroix, as well, as Kamada routinely went in for tackles and battles, even after he was handed a yellow card by the referee.

Glasner could well drop the 29-year-old after such an underwhelming afternoon, with Will Hughes another option he might well fall back on centrally, as Jefferson Lerma is sidelined with a hamstring injury.

For sure, the Austrian will have to chop and change to address Lacroix's dismissal, which he regarded as a 'very harsh' red card in his post-match musings, as Palace were unfortunate to pick up a defeat on their travels to Manchester.

Kamada might well be another player that drops out as the Eagles prepare to do battle with Spurs on Thursday night, with a win desperately needed to ensure Glasner and Co. don't slip into a late-season relegation battle.
