Nottingham Forest have stormed into the race to sign a £96k-a-week defender, following a new update on Murillo's future at the City Ground.
Forest keen on signing new centre-back this summer
It has been a difficult campaign for Forest, who find themselves in a relegation battle, having failed to build on qualifying for the Europa League last season, so there may be plenty of work to do when it comes to restructuring the squad in the summer transfer window.
There may be some departures too, with Murillo attracting plenty of interest from some big clubs in recent weeks, with the likes of Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur all being named as potential suitors.
Spurs have recently stepped up their pursuit of the defender, amid concerns that Micky van de Ven may leave, and the Tricky Trees would be willing to sanction a departure, but only for a fee of around £61m.
Should the Brazilian centre-back leave, Vitor Pereira's side would need to bring in a replacement, and they have now stormed into the race for Juventus defender Federico Gatti, joining the likes of Tottenham, AS Roma and AC Milan in the battle for his signature.
That is according to a report from TuttoSport (via Sport Witness), which states Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Gatti, should they be able to avoid relegation from the Premier League.
Juventus centre-back Federico Gatti
The Italian side are tempted to offload the centre-back at the end of the season, after what has been a difficult campaign thus far, failing to hold down a consistent place in the starting XI due to injuries.
"Absolute hero" Gatti could be solid Murillo replacement
The 27-year-old has impressed during his time with Juventus, receiving plaudits from scout Jacek Kulig courtesy of his performances during the 2023-24 campaign.
The £97k-a-week Italian was recently given the nod at centre-back for Juventus' Champions League play-off second leg against Galatasaray, and he put in a solid display, scoring and making a number of important defensive contributions.

Gatti could be a solid signing for Forest, but they definitely shouldn't consider cashing-in on Murillo this summer, given that he has been one of their best performers in the Premier League this season, averaging a 7.02 FotMob match rating, the third-highest in the squad.
