The latest transfer talk from Newcastle United as the Magpies prepare for the summer transfer window.
Newcastle United are facing some major decisions over a number of their goalkeepers at the end of the Premier League season.
Questions over Nick Pope’s long-term future will intensify in the aftermath of his error in Saturday’s home defeat against Everton and a decision will be made over whether to convert Aaron Ramsdale’s loan switch from Southampton into a permanent switch. Veteran duo Mark Gillespie and John Ruddy are both out of contract and highly-rated youngster Aidan Harris could be offered a chance to spend the season on loan elsewhere after enjoying a productive spell with Northern Irish club Coleraine during the first half of the season.
As it stands, Greek stopper Odysseas Vlachodimos is set to return to Tyneside once his season-long loan deal with Spanish club Sevilla. The former Nottingham Forest keeper has made just one appearance for the Magpies since moving to St James Park during the summer of 2024 - but he has enjoyed more regular game-time in Spain after making 22 appearances in all competitions for his temporary employers. Vlachodimos still has two years left on his United deal and he has admitted he is unsure what could lie ahead after expressing his satisfaction over how his time with Sevilla was panning out.
When asked if he was enjoying life with the La Liga club, he told ABC: “I’m very happy at Sevilla. I think it’s clear that I enjoy playing every match with this team. I’ll try to give my best every day, and that makes me feel very happy. I spoke with the manager, the president, and the sporting director about the club’s situation in LaLiga. But for me, the most important thing from day one is that this experience has been a gift since I arrived. I just wanted to get back to playing and be able to give my all to the team. This place is exactly as I imagined it.
“The truth is, I still have a contract with Newcastle and they decide, I don’t know what will happen in the future,” he added. “I really don’t think I can answer these questions about the future. I truly don’t know what’s going to happen this summer. Honestly, I have a contract with Newcastle. I don’t know what their plans will be when the season ends. We’ll see what happens then. I really don’t have an answer.”

Football Insider have once again claimed Newcastle are ‘in the race’ to sign former Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez.
The Uruguay international has been left of Al-Hilal’s squad following the arrival of Karim Benzema and has been linked with several clubs. Newcastle have been suggested as one possible destination with the report stating the Magpies are ‘more than willing to reach his huge wage demands’ - despite conceding the striker will have to take a pay cut if he wishes to end his time in Saudi Arabia. However, the report has also revealed Juventus and Atletico Madrid are ‘looking at his situation as well’.
