Tottenham lost 2-1 against Fulham at Craven Cottage.
Tottenham’s relegation fears deepened after a 2-1 defeat at Craven Cottage extended their winless Premier League run to 10 matches. Harry Wilson and Alex Iwobi put Fulham in control before Richarlison pulled one back in the second half. Igor Tudor remains winless in his two games in charge as Spurs sit 16th, just four points above the relegation zone. Here’s who came out on top and who struggled – the winners and losers from the Tottenham vs. Fulham game:
Winners
Archie Gray
The young midfielder had a nightmare first half playing at left-back, a position he doesn’t usually occupy. Gray could have closed down Iwobi for the second goal and wasn’t good going forward either. But he made up for it after the break. Gray was Tottenham’s best player in the second half, creating their only goal with a wonderful deep cross that Richarlison headed home in the 66th minute.
His attacking intent down the left improved dramatically after the interval, and he was one of the few Spurs players who showed any fight. Tel did really well down the left flank before laying off for Gray to clip that perfect delivery. In a game where most of his teammates disappeared, Gray at least showed character to recover from a poor opening 45 minutes.
Richarlison
The Brazilian came off the bench and sparked Tottenham’s second-half fightback. Richarlison pulled one back in the 66th minute with a powerful header from Gray’s cross, giving Spurs renewed hope when they desperately needed it. His hold-up play was excellent after coming on, linking the attack and causing Fulham problems with his physicality. While the comeback ultimately fell short, his impact was undeniable.
Losers
Conor Gallagher
Another abysmal showing from the January signing. Gallagher was hauled off just before the hour mark after looking completely out of place. He managed only 74 per cent passing accuracy and won just one of four midfield ground duels. Gallagher failed to impose himself on the game, allowing Fulham’s midfield to dictate the tempo throughout the first half. He was replaced by Sarr in the triple substitution as Tudor desperately tried to salvage something. T
Xavi Simons
The £55m summer signing from RB Leipzig produced another anonymous performance and was hauled off just before the hour mark. The Dutchman looked completely lost at Craven Cottage. Offering nothing in terms of creativity or goal threat, the Dutchman’s woeful run of form continued. Simons has managed just three goals and two assists in 21 Premier League appearances this season. For a player of his price tag, that return is nowhere near good enough.
