“Relegation rivals buckling” | Hammers have to hang in there – Report

Still ten games to go and the gap to safety – where Nottingham Forest inhabit seventeenth spot – is just two points, with Tottenham still teetering above with a five point margin over West Ham. Neither side won today as the relegation battle looks more of a going-right-to-the-wire war of attrition.

That is certainly the view of former West Ham defender **Scott Minto.**

According to [insidefutbol.com](https://insidefutbol.com/2026/03/01/west-ham-must-stay-close-because-tottenham-buckling-insists-ex-pl-star/707332/) this evening, the former Hammers left back thinks it may go right to the wire:

“Scott Minto thinks West Ham United have some positivity about them and must hang in there beyond March because relegation rivals Tottenham Hotspur are buckling:

Former Hammers defender Scott Minto – West Ham need to ‘hang in there’

_“Tottenham Hotspur’s squad was all about Champions League and maybe going for Europe again in terms of the Premier League._ _They are not used to this and they are buckling._

_So if West Ham can stay close, within touching distance as it gets even more nervy and even more pressure then who knows._ _I can’t call it. I have no idea who’s going to be that third team.”_

The Spuds are suffering – as are Forest from the lack of any sign of a ‘new manager bounce’ with back to back Premier League defeats meaning neither side have been able to take advantage of West Ham’s one point from four. Tottenham, remember haven’t won a Premier League game this year.

All to play for at Craven Cottage on Wednesday night then: West Ham can again climb out of the relegation zone if they can work the oracle against Fulham.
