Newcastle United do not have long to dwell on Saturday's disappointing 3-2 defeat to Everton, with their next Premier League challenge just two days away.

Eddie Howe's side were well below par on Saturday, and know they must lift their performance levels consderably when Michael Carrick's Manchester United arrive on Tyneside on Wednesday night.

The Magpies head coach is expected to have the same players available to him, with several long-term injury issues at the club, although Tino Livramento is closing in on a return to action.

Here's the latest Newcastle injury situation and when the stars could be back in the squad.

Jacob Ramsey

Injury: Sickness

The former Aston Villa man was forced off before the second half restarted against Everton, after being taken ill on the pitch. He is expected to be able to feature against Man United after scoring his first St James' Park goal for the Magpies.

What Howe has said: "It looked like an illness. The first I was aware was half-time. He felt like he could continue, but it was obvious at the start of the second half that he couldn't."

Expected return: Man United (H)

Tino Livramento

Injury: Hamstring

Livramento is nearing a welcome return after two months out with a hamstring problem. United have sorely missed the England right-back, with Kieran Trippier forced into playing every game in his absence. A March return is on the cards with Howe hinting it won't be long to wait.

What Howe has said: "Tino will be early March. We think he's still on track for that. He's done really well. He's been training now, not with us, but separately, running for a period of time. I think he's had a really good body of work behind him, so I think when he comes back, he'll be in a good place. I don't think it's too long to wait."

Expected return: Early March

Lewis Miley

Injury: Thigh

United have had to tread very carefully with the young midfielder, as what looked like a dead leg has turned into a more serious problem. Miley has had injections and will be carefully monitored before being given the green light to return.

What Howe has said: "We've just been advised with Lewis to be really careful with this injury. It was a dead leg, so a knock, which usually with a knock of that type it's maybe a couple of days and you're back, but there was a little bit of muscle disruption.

"He's had a couple of injections, I think he's got one more to come, so I think we're looking at a couple of weeks with Lewis. Because I think if we don't get the management of this injury right, it could rule him out for the season, so I think we're being careful to hopefully get him back in a good place."

Expected return: March

Bruno Guimaraes

Injury: Hamstring

Newcastle won't have their captain back until the final two months of the season after he picked up a hamstring injury against Tottenham. After recovering in Brazil for a spell, Bruno is preparing for a return after the next international break.

What Howe has said: "We hope that he can come back and really give us a push towards the back end of the season. He's such an inspirational figure for us, who could be a huge boost for us.

"But we have to treat his injury carefully. I think it's a serious enough one for us to know that with any muscle problem, especially the hamstring, you've got to be really careful. So I think the better he looks after himself now, the more we're going to be rewarded later in the season."

Expected return: Mid-April

Fabian Schar

Injury: Words

Schar underwent surgery on his ankle in January after falling awkwardly in the Premier League win over Leeds United. The Swiss defender is expected to return before the season ends.

What Howe has said: "I think it's difficult to give a definitive [timeline], but around three months out will be the diagnosis we'll work towards. If it's any quicker, then great, but we need to give Fabian time to recover."

Expected return: Late April

Emil Krafth

Injury: Knee

The Swedish defender is not expected to play again this season after damaging his knee on international duty in November. Krafth's versatility has been a miss as United struggled with injuries across their back line.

What Howe has said: "Emil has had an operation on his knee so in all likelihood it looks like his season is over which is a blow for us. He first suffered the problem on international duty and we hoped he could come back and be OK. It was clear in training he wasn't going to get to the level needed and there needed to be a surgical intervention."

Expected return: Unknown
