"What a player": Anthony Martial sends message to £47m Man Utd star after 2-1 win vs Crystal…

Manchester United secured a 2-1 comeback win over Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Red Devils had a nervy start at Old Trafford yesterday, with Palace scoring after just four minutes on the clock.

The Eagles were lively throughout the opening half but United responded with a strong second half showing.

Bruno Fernandes scored from the penalty spot for the Red Devils shortly after Maxence Lacroix was sent off for denying a goalscoring opportunity.

Fernandes eventually provided a world-class cross for Benjamin Sesko, who provided a fabulous header for the winner.

The Red Devils captain was undoubtedly the man of the match.

After the victory, the 31-year-old posted on Instagram with the caption ‘believe’.

A number of players responded to his post including former United favourite Anthony Martial.

The French striker commented: ‘What a player’.

Fernandes has been a revelation for the Red Devils this season. The Portuguese has notched up seven goals and 13 assists from 25 league appearances.

He is only two assists shy of the Premier League club-record held by David Beckham. The England legend achieved the feat during the 1999/2000 season.

The all-time competition record stands at 20, achieved by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne. With 10 games left, Fernandes could break that feat too.

United are currently third in the league standings with 51 points, ahead of Aston Villa on goal difference.

Villa were 11 points ahead of the Red Devils earlier this campaign, and United have caught up after picking up 19 points from their last seven matches.

They are now six points ahead of sixth-placed Chelsea and look on course for Champions League qualification with a top-five berth this campaign.

United’s next match will be against Newcastle United on the road on Wednesday night. They will be eyeing a league double over the Magpies for the first time since 2020/21.
