Things seem to be heading in a positive direction at Manchester United at last. A resurgence in results has catapulted the club back into contention for Champions League qualification, whilst elevating Michael Carrick into serious consideration for a permanent stay.
Since the former Red Devils midfielder took charge following Ruben Amorim's departure, United have regained stability, self-belief and tactical coherence. Impressive triumphs against Manchester City and Arsenal established the benchmark during his early spell, and subsequently the side have shown a degree of reliability seldom witnessed in recent campaigns. Minor disappointments have occurred, though few can legitimately criticise Carrick's initial month or so at the helm. Whilst the 44-year-old's contract only runs until the end of the season, United's future direction is already becoming apparent under his guidance.
Here's a round-up of the latest developments from Old Trafford...

Carrick makes Amorim change
Carrick is already seeing the rewards of restructuring his backroom staff at United. Since assuming control in January, he has implemented a succession of decisive changes designed to address the deficiencies of Amorim's spell.
At the heart of that transformation has been the introduction of experience and leadership within the coaching setup.
Steve Holland's appointment has proven especially impactful, with the former Chelsea and England assistant widely recognised for reinstating tactical discipline and defensive structure.
Carrick has also drawn upon individuals possessing extensive understanding of both English football and the club's culture.
Jonathan Woodgate, Jonny Evans, Travis Binnion and Craig Mawson have all contributed significantly behind the scenes throughout United's revival.
On the pitch, Carrick's readiness to discard Amorim's controversial 3-4-2-1 formation in favour of a more traditional 4-2-3-1 has been positively received.
The choice to bring Kobbie Mainoo back into the fold has likewise earned approval, alongside Carrick's composed, balanced approach.
In contrast, Amorim's tenure was believed to be considerably more inflexible, with staff seldom questioning the Portuguese manager and typically waiting until he had finished speaking before contributing.
The more inclusive, team-oriented environment cultivated by Carrick seems to have resonated strongly and the performances are demonstrating that change.

Rashford agrees deal
Marcus Rashford has reportedly reached an agreement on personal terms with Barcelona regarding a proposed permanent transfer.
The striker has spent this campaign on loan from United and has been forthright about his ambition to prolong his spell beyond the summer.
The loan deal includes a £26million buy option, a fee Barcelona are willing to pay. The main hurdle, though, has revolved around Rashford's wage expectations.
He currently pockets approximately £325,000 weekly at Old Trafford, an amount Barcelona were reluctant to match.
Nevertheless, it's now believed that Rashford has consented to accept a substantial wage reduction to facilitate what he considers a dream transfer.
Rashford has made his mark since joining La Liga, chalking up 10 goals and 13 assists across 35 outings in all competitions.
Following Amorim's exit in January, there had been suggestions he might still be brought back into the United fold this summer.
Yet with personal terms regarding a permanent switch to Barcelona now essentially agreed, any likelihood of a return to Old Trafford seems progressively unlikely.
