Fabrizio Romano drops latest on Michael Carrick-Ineos situation at Man Utd,'Ineos had an...'

The swell of support around Michael Carrick continues to rise at Man Utd with every victory, and Fabrizio Romano has just shared an interesting update on his future.

From being tagged as a temporary solution, Michael Carrick is leaving no stone unturned in making himself undeniable in Ineos’ eyes.

Six wins and one draw in seven games have Man Utd sitting pretty at third in the table, which is a remarkable jump from last season.

As the points keep adding to the board, Fabrizio Romano has shared Ineos‘ latest stance on giving Carrick the job amid their initial expectation.

Ineos’ latest stance on Michael Carrick

Despite being the ones to appoint Carrick, it can’t be ignored how short-sighted Ineos would look if they gave him the permanent job after tearing up a “project” under Ruben Amorim.

Hiring Amorim was clearly a mistake, but Ineos care a lot about optics, which is why they aren’t rushing to crown Carrick the permanent manager in this hot streak of victories.

However, the results will soon take the decision out of their hands, and Romano says that they have already been surprised beyond belief by what Carrick has done.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, he said: “The feeling around Carrick is now increasingly positive. All people at Man Utd have a feeling that Carrick has a chance to stay as a permanent manager.

“Ineos had an expectation for Carrick to do well, but not at this level. He’s surprising everyone, which includes the players, the management, and the owners.

“It’s not something decided as yet, but every single week, every single win, the feeling grows even more.”

Man Utd should have a clear parameter for Carrick

Carrick walked into the job with the clear expectation of delivering Champions League football, an objective he’s well on his way to achieving.

Prove me wrong: Michael Carrick has already shown enough to become permanent Man United manager.

13 points from 15 would be title winning form over a full season…

However, simply achieving that shouldn’t be the sole reason why he’s given the permanent job, because this is a weird season for teams around United.

United should have a performance-based parameter instead of a results-based one, because in the long run, those two always end up matching each other.

United might get UCL football with just 65 points this season, but that doesn’t mean they had a good season; if they continue to play well, then Carrick should get the job.

As a broad spectrum, finishing higher than fourth should make him the favourite for the job, because that can’t happen unless United play really well every game and rarely drop points.

He will become undeniable at that point, and even if it sours eventually, Ineos can’t be blamed for making the logical decision.
