Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner was one of the candidates for the Manchester United head coach job in the summer.
Ineos are well underway in their process to hire a new Manchester United head coach, and Michael Carrick’s unbeaten streak means he is currently the favourite.
But a decision won’t be made until the summer. To strengthen Carrick’s case, many of United’s manager targets have dropped out of the race by signing new contracts or ruling themselves out of the job.
Oliver Glasner was on United’s radar following his success at Palace, and he is confirmed to be leaving the Premier League side in the summer.
But Carrick’s United beat Glasner’s Palace 2-1 on Sunday afternoon, and it seems his chances of landing the job are dwindling rapidly.

Oliver Glasner was outclassed by Michael Carrick
Glasner spoke very highly of United and their players ahead of Sunday’s clash, almost as if the Palace manager was taking a run at the vacant head coach role.
Palace taking an early lead at Old Trafford is exactly what Glasner would have wanted to strengthen his application, but United produced a brilliant second-half comeback under Carrick.

As per BBC Sport, statistics show that United were actually dominant in the match, with Carrick’s side having more possession (61%), more than twice as many shots (20 vs 8) and even covering more distance with a total of 110.77km.
United outran, outfought and ultimately, outscored Palace at Old Trafford and Glasner had no answers for Carrick’s game plan.
While Glasner did complain about the penalty and red card decision that went against his side, former Premier League referee Mark Clattenburg cleared up the penalty drama by declaring it the right decision.

Ineos must reject Oliver Glasner
Glasner was very much flirting with the United job all week, but the result at Old Trafford speaks for itself.
Carrick picked up his sixth win in seven matches to lift the Red Devils up to third in the Premier League table. Champions League qualification is in United’s sights.

United fans want Carrick to stay, and it seems the obvious choice to make in the summer.
Glasner has proven to be problematic at Palace, and his preference of playing a 3-4-3 system would provide the same problems that Ruben Amorim faced at Old Trafford.
