Anonymous football agents who labelled Benjamin Sesko the worst signing of 2025/26 should hang their heads in shame

Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko is silencing his critics.

Over the years Manchester United have become a lightning rod for criticism, due to the club’s inconsistent performances and patchy transfer market record.

But what really irks us is when United’s players are criticised unjustifiably – especially before a ball has even been kicked.

Benjamin Sesko was a target for cheap criticism at the start of the season, and he is now making his doubters look silly.

How do you predict Benjamin Sesko’s career at Manchester United will go?

It's early – but let's see your predictions!

Ridiculous ‘anonymous’ Sesko criticism in The Athletic

Benjamin Sesko was singled out at the start of September in The Athletic, in their ‘agents survey’.

The outlet polled 20 football agents anonymously and asked them for their views on the worst signing of the summer.

Sesko polled six votes – more than any player.

At the time United In Focus pointed out how there were already three players who actually warranted this criticism, Florian Wirtz, Yoane Wissa, and James Trafford.

Sesko did have a slow start at United, but has exploded into life over the past few weeks.

The striker is now up to nine goals for the season, with seven coming in 2026.

The agents who named Sesko as the ‘worst signing in the Premier League’ should all hang their heads in shame.

It’s little wonder they wanted to stay anonymous and not attach their names to such cheap criticism of the Manchester United forward.

This is a young striker with limitless potential, who is only 22, and is now leading the line for one of the biggest clubs in the world and making it look easy.

Have you been convinced by Sesko like Carrick has?

He's in amazing form, but what else does he need to add?

Sesko singled out for United’s track record

Why was Benjamin Sesko singled out? We suspect it was nothing to do with him, and more to do with Manchester United.

United have earned a reputation for spending money poorly, and 2023 striker signing Rasmus Hojlund was sent out on loan after just two seasons.

Sesko deserved to be judged on his own merit, instead of being picked on and mocked before he had really got started.

He is part of a quartet of signings made by Ineos in summer 2025 that look like being United’s best transfer window in the post-Ferguson era.
