Man Utd plan to refresh their midfield in the summer transfer window and here is the latest gossip and rumours.
Manchester United have reportedly decided on a three-man midfield shortlist for the summer transfer window.
United have prioritised a midfield refresh at the end of the season, with two additions expected in the position. The preference is to sign at least one player with Premier League experience, as the club believes there is less risk attached to signing someone already proven in the English top-flight.
Casemiro is set to leave the club as a free agent at the end of the campaign, while Manuel Ugarte could also be sold after he attracted interest in the January window. That would leave Kobbie Mainoo as the only recognised senior central midfielder, with Bruno Fernandes and Mason Mount both options to use there as well. It is understood United could use youngsters such as Jack and Tyler Fletcher, Jack Moorhouse, Toby Collyer or Sekou Kone to supplement the first-team squad next season if required.

Manchester United dream three-man midfield shortlist 'revealed'
Manchester United plan to spend big on a midfield overhaul this summer and could even break their club transfer record to sign an elite option. The club-record fee still stands at the £89 million spent to bring Paul Pogba back to Old Trafford a decade ago.
A report from Spanish outlet AS claims United have already drawn up a dream midfield shortlist for the summer, which includes three current Premier League stars. Elliot Anderson is viewed as the ideal candidate to strengthen the United side this year, while there is also admiration for Newcastle duo Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimarães.
There are complications regarding all three targets, though. Man City are understood to be leading the race to sign Anderson this summer, while Newcastle would have no interest in selling either Tonali or Guimarães to United, given their historic rivalry. The report claims that 'informal contacts' have been made with the Newcastle duo to gauge the possibility of a summer move, though they are both viewed as unlikely at this stage.
The report also reiterates that United have an interest in Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton and Wolves ace Joao Gomes as alternatives should they be unable to sign one of their preferred targets.
