Man Utd aim to refresh their midfield in the summer transfer window and here is the latest gossip.
Manchester United will be in the market for two midfielders this summer and could end up letting two leave the club as well.
Casemiro has already announced he will leave the club as a free agent when his contract expires at the end of the season, while Manuel Ugarte could be sold after a reduced role under Michael Carrick. The Uruguay international attracted interest in the January transfer window, but United ruled out an exit due to the lack of options at senior level.
United have prioritised a midfield refresh in the summer and are well aware they need better quality in that position if they are to compete in both the Premier League and Champions League. Elliot Anderson is viewed as the dream addition, while there is also interest in Carlos Baleba, Sandro Tonali, Adam Wharton and Joao Gomes.

Ugarte could be sold this summer
Manchester United need midfield reinforcement, even with the options they already have at their disposal, and might be reluctant to let Manuel Ugarte leave as well this summer.
The 24-year-old is unhappy with his reduced role under Michael Carrick and wants to play regularly, but might get his wish if United have more matches to play next season. It remains to be seen what the future holds for Ugarte at Old Trafford, though notorious transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano wouldn't be surprised if he also left at the end of the season.
“Casemiro is leaving on a free, but around Ugarte, there is already some movement about some clubs interested,” Romano said in a YouTube video. “There are clubs in Italy considering the possibility to go for Ugarte, so there is interest from Italy.
“In the January window, Galatasaray were interested, but then nothing really concrete, nothing really advanced, and so all parties decided not to proceed. But Ugarte in the summer could assess options and leave eventually Manchester United.”
Carrick gives verdict on Ugarte
Manuel Ugarte has struggled for playing time since Michael Carrick was appointed head coach, but the Manchester United boss insists he is still a huge fan of the former Paris Saint-Germain star.
Speaking in a press conference last week, Carrick was quizzed on Ugarte's reduced role at the club: "I like Manu a lot, he’s been terrific around the group with his attitude and how we go about it, his training qualities, he’s got a lot of good attributes, when the team is winning there is a big upside to that," he said.
"For one or two boys who haven’t played as much it makes it a little bit tougher to get in the team, but everyone is pushing each other. Many are desperate to get on the pitch a bit more. There are times when we might need to change things and he's a big part of that."
