Hello and welcome to Carrick's press conference blog. The interim head coach did his chances of being appointed permanently no harm on Sunday with a 2-1 win over Palace. The Reds benefitted from the visitors being reduced to ten men but Fernandes and Sesko's superb form dragged them across the line. United could have a number of injuries heading into the clash at Newcastle. Mount and Martinez did not return against Palace while De Ligt and Dorgu continue to be long-term concerns.
Maguire and Shaw both felt unwell during the win at the weekend so it remains to be seen if they feature or not. United sit third ahead of the midweek fixtures so there will be plenty of room for positivity when Carrick sits down later.
