Eddie Howe provides triple Newcastle injury update vs Man Utd, the game is‘too soon’for one star

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has suggested that the upcoming clash with Manchester United will come ‘too soon’ for one of his players.

Michael Carrick’s impressive momentum at Manchester United rolled on Sunday, as a determined win over Crystal Palace propelled the Reds up to third in the Premier League standings.

After falling behind early on, goals from Bruno Fernandes and Benjamin Šeško sparked a comeback to secure three crucial points, shifting focus toward Wednesday’s away clash with Newcastle United, managed by Eddie Howe, at St James’ Park.

United have not tasted victory at the iconic venue since October 2020, when Harry Maguire, Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Aaron Wan-Bissaka were all on target in a commanding 4–1 triumph. The upcoming fixture offers a real chance to finally end that lengthy wait.

Newcastle head into the contest on the back of a 3–2 defeat at home to Everton and currently sit 13th in the table, having lost four of their last five league games. Despite their inconsistent form, United can expect a stern test amid the intense atmosphere on Tyneside.

Howe provides triple Newcastle injury update vs Man Utd

United currently have a few injury concerns in the lead up to this Newcastle clash after Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire came off early against Crystal Palace.

Lisandro Martínez has missed the last two games while Mason Mount and Matthijs de Ligt have been out for longer periods.

The opposition are also experiencing problems of their own, and Eddie Howe has explained how the game might come too soon for Tino Livramento to return to action.

Bruno Guimarães is also unavailable while Howe suggested that Nick Woltemade could miss the game with illness.

“Jacob Ramsey was in yesterday, trained fine so a quick recovery from him,” the Newcastle boss began.

“There’s an illness, potentially, in the squad because Nick Woltemade has gone down ill and we haven’t seen him for a couple of days but we will give him every chance for tomorrow.

“Tino Livramento is getting closer and closer. This game possibly comes too soon for him, we are desperate for him to become available.”

United need to perform vs Newcastle

United are heading away to Newcastle and that has been a difficult fixture for them in recent years. Although, the Magpies are currently in poor form.

But the latest game against Palace showed United that they need to be at their best against any side otherwise the game will be made difficult.

Carrick’s side have lacked intensity and quality in the last couple of matches but have fought through to get the wins.

At St James’ Park, they probably won’t be able to afford to start slow and will have to provide a solid performance in order to take all three points.
