Manchester United are hopeful that club captain Bruno Fernandes will stay for at least one more year, sources have told talkSPORT.
Fernandes threw his future into doubt by claiming the United board wanted him to leave when he was close to moving to Saudi Arabia last summer.

The talismanic Portuguese international has a release clause worth around £57million that can be activated by European clubs at the end of the season.
However, with United in the race for Champions League qualification under Michael Carrick, Old Trafford insiders believe the 31-year-old is more inclined to remain at the club.
Fernandes is seen as a key player by United, who are planning another serious assault on the transfer market in the close season with stars such as Carlos Baleba, Adam Wharton, Elliot Anderson, Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali all in their sights.
After the success of bringing in Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha last summer, United are once again focusing most of their attention on proven Premier League campaigners.

Fernandes scored one goal and made the other in Sunday’s come-from-behind win over Crystal Palace, and has seven goals and 14 assists in all competitions this season.
Wilson a wanted man
Aston Villa are emerging as the leading contenders to snap up the sought-after Harry Wilson on a free transfer.
Wilson's Fulham contract expires at the end of the season and talkSPORT understands he is almost certain to leave Craven Cottage.
Leeds United tried to sign the Welsh international last summer, while Everton boss David Moyes is also a big admirer and hometown club Wrexham will enter the mix if they win promotion.
But Wilson, who turns 29 later this month, is understood to be open to a move to Villa Park, especially if Villa can offer Champions League football.
The former Liverpool youngster has scored ten goals in 31 games this season, and assisted a further seven.

Another departure at Forest?
Edu faces a battle to save his job at Nottingham Forest.
The Brazilian's appointment as Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis' head of global football last summer was seen as a coup following his work alongside Mikel Arteta at Arsenal.
However, with Forest on their fourth different manager of the season and many of Edu's signings not working out, this notebook has been told that Marinakis has been left distinctly underwhelmed.
A decision on Edu's long-term future is expected to be made at the end of the season, but it seems unlikely he will survive if Forest, two points above the bottom three, are relegated to the Championship.
Main Mane
Rob Edwards has made it crystal clear to the Wolves hierarchy that they must not cash in on teenage talent Mateus Mane.
Mane is attracting attention from teams including United, Arsenal and Newcastle United after bursting onto the scene under Edwards.

But the Wolves boss wants to build next season's Championship promotion push around the 18-year-old attacking midfielder.
Mane is under contract until the summer of 2029, but sources have indicated to talkSPORT that he is likely to be offered improved terms if his good run of form continues.
