Manchester United have been handed a groundbreaking fee to secure the signing of Cole Palmer as one former blue makes a clear transfer admission.
Manchester United are flying under interim manager Michael Carrick with six wins in seven games as their unbeaten run continues.
Their most recent victory saw the Red Devils defeat Crystal palace in a 2-1 Old Trafford comeback thanks to goals from captain Bruno Fernandes and summer signing Benjamin Šeško.
United’s recent spending has prioritised strengthening their attacking output, with the arrivals of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Šeško all proving to be a hit so far in a red shirt.
However, conversation about Chelsea talisman Cole Palmer returning to Manchester has grown in recent weeks amid rumours of the England international becoming ‘home-sick’ at Stamford Bridge.
Whilst clarity over who will take the wheel in the summer remains unknown, United’s recruitment search has been handed a clear update on Palmer as a potential Fernandes replacement.
Palmer labelled with record-breaking price tag
Speaking to GOAL, former Chelsea player Frank Sinclair explained the likelihood of a move for Palmer considering all different factors.
He stated, “If you’re going to settle in a city, then I think London’s one of the best ones to settle in … But I don’t think that’s affecting his football.”
When asked about whether it would take a British transfer record of £150 million to tempt Chelsea, he admitted, “Yeah, you’d imagine so. You’re buying, in some sense, potential as well because I don’t think he’s the finished article, still a very young kid, not in his prime and you’re buying a player that potentially can play at the top level for the next 10 years. So, yeah, it’s going to cost a lot of money.”
Whilst Palmer’s form has dropped in recent months, there is no doubt among the Premier League fanbase about the quality that he can bring to any side, similar in a sense to United’s Fernandes who’s fingerprints will be all over any game that he plays.

United preferring Premier League-proven talents
Man United fans have been pleased to see a more consistent transfer strategy in the INEOS era bringing in proven talents to the squad, rather than expensive, risky signings such as Rasmus Hojlund and Antony, both of which have since left the club.
Palmer would be the guaranteed performances that United would need and the closest thing to Fernandes’ output that could be deemed realistic.

However, with Fernandes currently in contention for Premier League Player of the Season, it would be difficult to see a Man United side without their Portuguese Magnifico.
For now, both Chelsea and United remain focused on securing Champions League football, with Liverpool and Aston Villa also in the race. United face Newcastle on Wednesday night, where the Magpies will look to end Carrick’s unbeaten run.
