“West Ham will easily pay €6m” – Belief striker can take easy route to the Hammers

Dusan Vlahovic

Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic could probably earn €6m a year at West Ham United if he wanted to next season.

That’s according to Hammers’ favourite Paolo Di Canio, via Bianconera News. The Italian website cover comments from the former West Ham striker today.

Vlahovic is set to be a free agent in the summer. His current deal with Juventus expires at that point and talks over an extension have not worked out.

That is largely due to the Serbian striker’s contract demands, which Juventus are not currently willing to pay.

Chelsea and Tottenham

That’s led to reports about a potential exit in the summer. Sport Witness have covered such reports.

One in February stated that Chelsea and Tottenham were being touted as potential destinations.

Now Di Canio has touted West Ham as a potential destination too. As far as he’s concerned, the Hammers are willing to pay massive sums to anyone.

“Vlahovic is leaving, let’s prepare today,” he said.

“Maybe he understands that at the end of the year, given what he’s done at a great level, even on a free transfer but with the salary he has, and he’s not asking for a million, who will take him?

“Unless he goes to England, where a mid-table team because they have a name will give him €8-10m, which they can spend. West Ham will easily pay €6m for their players.

“He wants to gain experience, but he’s not going there to win. If, on the other hand, he wants to stay at a club that aims to climb the ladder, win in Italy and in the Cups, you too must accept not taking much.”

Example of Premier League

Now, while Di Canio’s comments appear to be more of a dig at West Ham, or rather the Premier League, than anything else, perhaps there’s something to it.

Vlahovic doesn’t appear to be lining up the big suitors as he might have imagined. That’s certainly surprising given his status and the fact he’s only 26-years-old.

Of course, any move will be dependent on West Ham staying up. Nobody at the London Stadium will be thinking about big price transfers before that’s certain.
