Just in: £180,000-a-week Man Utd star handed suspended prison sentence

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has been handed a reduced 15-month suspended prison sentence by Greek courts following a brawl that happened in 2020.

The United star was involved in a scuffle during a family holiday in Mykonos six years ago, which initially led to a 21-month sentence.

However, after an appeal, that sentence was quashed, although a fresh verdict has now seen the England international handed a reduced sentence, which Maguire's lawyers are expected to appeal again.

The 32-year-old has always maintained that he did nothing wrong, although the Greek authorities continue to insist the opposite.

Maguire Found Guilty of Multiple Offences

Footage circulated in August 2020 of Maguire being involved in a brawl while on vacation in Greece, with the Englishman arrested by police following the fight involving his family outside a bar.

The centre-back was facing allegations of non-serious assault, resisting arrest and attempted bribery in the aftermath of the incident.

Maguire, who earns £180,000-a-week at Old Trafford, has been found guilty and convicted on all three counts.

Maguire wasn't present at the hearing on Wednesday as he prepares for the Premier League clash with Newcastle United, having been a doubt through illness leading up to the clash against the Magpies.
