talkSPORT understands Maguire will still feature in the Red Devils' Premier League clash against Newcastle tonight, having not been involved in today's legal process.

The 32-year-old was arrested while on a family holiday in Mykonos in 2020 and the incident has been through a number of retrials.

Sources close to Maguire claim he has rejected multiple opportunities to reach a financial settlement.

The England defender remains determined to clear his name and will appeal to the Supreme Court.

Maguire's trial finally took place almost six years after his arrest, for which he was handed a 21-month suspended sentence at the time.

The case has dragged on for years after the retrial was postponed four times, until it finally took place on Wednesday.

As well as having his initial suspended sentence reduced in length and severity, Maguire no longer has to pay a fine.

Why was Harry Maguire arrested?

The long-running saga began on a summer holiday, a year after Maguire joined United in a £80million move from Leicester City.

But his post-season break took a turn for the worse when he became involved in a row with a group of other British tourists.

Maguire's lawyers claimed that two Albanian men injected his sister Daisy with an unknown substance in a bar on a night out that caused her to faint.

He was initially found guilty of aggravated assault, resisting arrest, and attempted bribery.

The conviction was automatically quashed on appeal under Greek law, and a retrial was granted.
