Newcastle United and Manchester United are both depleted ahead of tonight’s Premier League clash.
Michael Carrick has confirmed that Lisandro Martinez and Mason Mount will not face Newcastle United this evening.
Martinez has been absent since the Red Devils beat Everton 1-0 last Monday. He picked up a calf injury in training, with Mount - who has played just once under Carrick - sidelined due to a knock.
Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw have been ill and are also doubts as Newcastle welcome Man United to St James’ Park. As for the Magpies, a bug in their camp makes Nick Woltemade a severe doubt.
Manchester United duo ruled out
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Carrick ruled Martinez and Mount out for their trip to St James' Park. He said: “He won’t be with us. He’s not quite ready for that. We’ve got one or two we’re trying to work to get them back. Mason as well, he’s getting a bit closer, so unfortunately it’s part of the game.
"There’s always going to be people out, there’s always going to be people missing, but we’ll keep working as hard as we can to get them back."
Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire illness
On Shaw and Maguire falling ill, he added: "There’s always going to be people out, there’s always going to be people missing, but we’ll keep working as hard as we can to get them back." This comes as both Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw are doubts this evening. The defenders complained they felt ill during the victory over Crystal Palace on Sunday.”
