Anthony Gordon celebrates with his Newcastle United teammates after scoring against Manchester United at St James' Park
Newcastle United ended their rotten run of form with a last gasp win over Man United at St James' Park - thanks to a late stunner from William Osula.
The game exploded into life at the end of the first half as Jacob Ramsey was sent off for a second yellow card after diving. Bruno Fernandes then clipped Anthony Gordon in the box before Peter Bankes pointed to the spot.
[Gordon sent Senne Lemmens the wrong way to put Newcastle in the lead in the sixth minute](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/newcastle-man-untied-live-score-33529273) of what was supposed to be three minutes of additional time. But the play continued and in the 51st minute of the first half, Lewis Hall conceded a free-kick which Fernandes crossed in for Casimero to head home the equaliser.
The game looked to be edging to a nervous finish for Newcastle as Ramsdale had his work cut out but substitute William Osula made a run down the right before bending the ball home with his left foot to beat Lammens.
Here's how Newcastle fared against the Red Devils:
**Aaron Ramsdale 9**
Made some vital saves to deny Yoro and Zirkee when Newcastle were under the cosh. Man of the match.
**Kieran Trippier 8**
Battled hard and sent Osula free down the right before his wonder goal. Four tackles and eight clearances to boot.
**Malick Thiaw 8**
A near immaculate display at the back as he scrapped and cleared all night.
**Dan Burn 9**
Stood tall when Newcastle needed him despite being constantly targeted by the Man United grapple squad.
**Lewis Hall 8**
Helped Newcastle absorb some big pressure.
**Joelinton 8**
Played close to the edge but was a massive presence in the middle. Skated thin ice with the yellow card and needed to be held back.
**Sandro Tonali 9**
A sparkling display but the so called big clubs can only dream of signing him. A real leader's performance as he stopped Joelinton overheating.
**Jacob Ramsey 5**
A sloppy first booking for a pull on Casemiro led to a moment of real controversy. It was a ridiculous call from Peter Bankes, but it ended Ramsey's night early. Should he have been more savvy? Or is anybody capable of predicting such a rash decision?
**Harvey Barnes 6**
Did not threaten enough. Just one shot on target and, disappointingly, for a winger, just one cross from 16 touches.
**Anthony Elanga 5**
Was better after the break but 35 touches and two crosses is a poor return even if United were down to 10 men.
**Anthony Gordon 7**
Won the penalty and kept his nerve to convert.
**Subs**
**Joe Willock (for Barnes 46)**
**Jacob Murphy (for Elanga 84)**
**William Osula (for Gordon 84)**
**Sven Botman (for Tonali 90)**
**\*Subs must play 15 minutes to earn a mark.**
