Will Osula scored a 90th minute winner as 10-man Newcastle United beat Manchester United 2-1 at St James’ Park.

Newcastle were reduced to 10 men in first-half stoppage time when Jacob Ramsey was controversially shown a second yellow card after referee Peter Bankes deemed the midfielder had dived under a challenge from goalkeeper Senne Lammens.

Moments later, Bankes then awarded the Magpies a penalty when Anthony Gordon was brought down by Bruno Fernandes. Gordon then stepped up to convert past Lammens.

Man United equalised before half-time when Casemiro headed in Fernandes’ free-kick delivery. With their man advantage, Michael Carrick’s side were expected to go on and win the second-half but substitute Will Osula had other ideas.

In the 90th minute, Osula latched onto Kieran Trippier’s pass to cut inside on the right and fire the ball into the bottom left corner.

Eddie Howe reacts to Newcastle United’s 2-1 win over Manchester United

Reacting to his side’s win, Eddie Howe said: "An amazing night. It was a great performance all the way through. 11 v 11 or 11 v 10. I thought we deserved to win.

"The main emotion was trying to work out how we'd play in that second half. We wanted to regroup. I thought Jacob Ramsey's sending off was really harsh. I don't think he's looking for a penalty there.”
