Manchester United has another injury concern in their defensive department this week after Moroccan international Noussair Mazraoui was substituted during the Red Devil’s 2-1 loss against Newcastle in the Premier League on Wednesday night.

Mazraoui was named on Michael Carrick’s starting sheet for the first time this season before moving into the left-back position late on in the tie at St. James’ Park.

The 28-year-old then endured a foot a stomp at some point in the game and was seen going down in the 84th minute before being replaced by Tyrell Malacia.

However, with the game tied at 1-1 until the 90th minute, Malacia failed to track William Osula’s run. Osula capped off a swift solo effort with a left-footed curler that rooted Senne Lammens to the spot.

Mazraoui just recently marked his return to the team after having his fair share of injury troubles during the 2025/26 campaign. The African star already missed 13 games this season before playing a starring role in United’s 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace last Sunday.

It remains to be seen what the extent of Mazraoui’s injury will be, however, the former Bayern Munich star will now join the likes of Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martínez on the club’s injury list at the back.
