Michael Carrick commented on three of his squad members as **Man United**prepare to play against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park on Wednesday evening in the hunt for a position in the top five.

Two men in the defensive unit came off the field against Crystal Palace, but the head coach hopes that they are both available for this trip to the North-East. Meanwhile, there were more words of praise for the club captain, who scored a penalty and registered an assist against the Eagles.

*“We are hoping [**Luke Shaw*and Harry Maguire are fit]. We are working towards it. They were not feeling too good, still got a little bit of time to the game, and we will just have to see how they feel. So, we will obviously give them every chance. Both of them were not feeling too good. So yeah, it is one of those things, really. But we will just have to see how they are today and [Wednesday] morning.

*“I will be honest, there is not loads more I can add to what we have already talked about, about Bruno Fernandes. He has been here for such a long time-period of time now, and had success in different ways and, certainly individually, shown what he is all about, in taking responsibility, showing up, being there, facing everything for the ups and the downs.*

“That sums up Bruno as a character and his consistency over such a period of time. In terms of where he ranks in club history, that is not for me to get involved in and it’s irrelevant, but he has been a major, major plus and a fantastic signing from when he came in and the impact that he’s had since he’s been here and I am sure that it will continue.”
