Altay Bayındır is coming close to the end of his stay in the Premier League with Manchester United. Beşiktaş are again keen to to sign the goalkeeper.
The former Fenerbahçe player lost his place in the Old Trafford side’s starting eleven earlier in the season. He’d previously been given a chance ahead of André Onana but couldn’t impress.
Senne Lammens’ arrival during the last summer window has made him firmly second choice again.
This has led to claims he could be returning to the Super Lig in the summer and we covered reports Beşiktaş had reached an agreement to sign him.
Manchester United are prepared to let the Turkey international leave for a discounted transfer fee. He’s currently valued at €7m by Transfermarkt, and the fee was put at €5m.
The Black Eagles had also been tracking the 27-year-old during the January window as they looked to find a replacement for the departed Mert Günok.
They brought in AS Roma’s Devis Vásquez on loan with an option purchase in the summer, but still want sign Bayındır.
Manager asked about transfer
However, Beşiktaş manager Sergen Yalçın has tried to calm his club’s links with the Manchester United player. Although he didn’t move to deny there’s an outline agreement in place.
Speaking at a press conference Yalçın was asked whether he wanted to bring in the Red Devils keeper, as covered by Ajanspor. The Beşiktaş boss said it wasn’t something they are thinking about at the moment.
Despite this, Yalçın said it is something they will address at the end of the season.
“This is not the time to answer these questions. We play cups, leagues. We will talk about these issues when the transfer window comes,” said Yalçın.
Analysis: Bayındır and Manchester United
Bayındır started the season as Manchester United’s No.1 following the poor form of André Onana during the last campaign. However, he’s hardly been involved since the arrival of Lammens from Royal Antwerp.
The goalkeeper hasn’t had any minutes since September, and didn’t even get a chance as the Red Devils played in the EFL Cup and FA Cup. The club were knocked out of both in the first round.
No European football hasn’t helped either, with just the Premier League remaining.
Contract Situation, Value and Agents
The Turkish stopper is contracted to the Premier League club until June 2027, but Manchester United have an option for a further year.
Transfermarkt have it at €7m, down from a high of €15m in 2022. In Turkey, it’s believed he’ll move for around €5m.
Bayındır is represented by Sefa Syrek, the agent’s only client.
