Casemiro just matched his best Real Madrid season by scoring for Man Utd vs Newcastle

Casemiro is making his final season with Manchester United one of his very best after netting another goal against Newcastle.

During Manchester United’s 2-1 defeat to Newcastle at St James’ Park, Casemiro scored a header in the dying moments of the first half to draw the Red Devils level.

It was Casemiro’s sixth goal of the season, which is his highest tally in a Premier League campaign since completing his move to Old Trafford in 2022.

Ineos are busy trying to find a Casemiro replacement, and once again, United collapsed when the Brazilian left the pitch on Wednesday night. Filling his shoes will be a huge task, especially as Casemiro is enjoying one of his best seasons.

Casemiro matches his highest scoring league campaign

Earlier this season, Casemiro confirmed he is leaving in the summer when his contract expires. In his farewell message, he wrote: “Four months to give my all for this badge and for our goal.”

Casemiro is certainly delivering on that promise. His goal against Newcastle was his sixth in the league, which is now the joint-highest scoring campaign in his entire career.

2025/26 6*

2024/25 1

2021/22 1

2020/21 6

The only other time when Casemiro scored six goals in a league campaign was in the 2020/21 season with Real Madrid. Even during his time at Porto and Sao Paolo, Casemiro never hit the scoring heights he has achieved at United this season.

Casemiro is leaving Man Utd on a high

Considering that Casemiro was told to leave football by Jamie Carragher back in 2024, his turnaround in Manchester has been sublime.

At 34 years old, the Brazilian has proven he is still at the very top of his game.

United will have to spend millions to replace Casemiro just to maintain the level of quality he adds to this squad. Filling his shoes next season will be a huge task, and one that Ineos cannot afford to get wrong.

With nine league games remaining in 2025/26, Casemiro still has an opportunity to add to his goal tally and make his final season with the Red Devils his highest-scoring league campaign in his entire career.

Casemiro will be remembered extremely fondly by United supporters regardless, but that would be a cherry on top for his final season at the club.
