Benjamin Sesko is on track to hit'unbelievable'goal target set by Rio Ferdinand in pre-season

Benjamin Sesko’s incredible form in 2026 means the Manchester United striker is now on track for a respectable goal return.

Across the entire 2025/26 season, Benjamin Sesko has scored nine goals in all competitions, with six of those coming in his last eight matches.

Sesko is on a scoring streak, but he failed to find the back of the net in the recent 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United in the Premier League.

With nine games remaining in the Premier League calendar, Sesko is still on track to hit a goal target which club legend Rio Ferdinand said would be a huge success.

Rio Ferdinand set goal target for Benjamin Sesko in 2025/26

In August, before United kicked off the 25/26 season, Ferdinand challenged Sesko to score 10-15 goals.

“I think if he comes in and scores between 10 and 15, then I think that’s an unbelievable return,” Ferdinand said.

Sesko has scored eight in the Premier League so far, and he sits just behind Bryan Mbeumo as United’s top scorer in 2025/26.

In terms of his own goals for the season, Sesko’s targets were more collective than individual.

“Get better, that we connect together, in general, and we, as a team, just try to grow, to grow together step by step because we’re getting better,” Sesko said about his goals when he first joined United.
