Tonali would be great, but Man Utd signing another Newcastle player would be title winning addition

Manchester United are being linked with a move for multiple Newcastle players this summer, among them midfield pair Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali.

With Manchester United’s potential return to the Champions League, a new market of players will be available this summer, and Ineos are looking to take advantage of Newcastle’s struggles this season.

United have been linked with signing Sandro Tonali over the past month, with Anthony Gordon and Malick Thiaw also rumoured targets currently calling St. James’ Park home.

Tonali was brilliant against United, but he still isn’t the standout addition from the Magpies.

But this past week United have been linked with Bruno Guimaraes, which would be a brilliant signing if he is available for a decent fee.

Which Newcastle player would you want Manchester United to sign the most?💰

United have been linked with Tonali, Gordon, Thiaw, Hall and Guimarães. But which makes most sense?

Bruno Guimaraes is a signing that pushes Manchester United into title contenders

Links to Guimaraes are relatively recent, but they are incredibly exciting.

Casemiro has recommended Guimaraes to United, and as far as replacing the Brazilian’s leadership and steel in midfield, there aren’t many better options.

Obviously, for United, Elliot Anderson is priority number one, but adding Guimaraes would be less of a long-term investment and more of a ‘win now’ kind of signing.

Guimaraes is the captain of a top Premier League club in Newcastle, has led them to the Champions League and is also one of the best in the league right now.

Adding Guimaraes alongside a younger midfielder would be a perfect balance for United.

For his mental qualities alone, Guimaraes would be a crucial addition to United’s midfield. In the event that Anderson chooses Man City, Guimaraes should be seriously considered ahead of Carlos Baleba and Adam Wharton, assuming he costs less.

Guimaraes replaces Casemiro’s goals from midfield

One big factor of Casemiro’s exit will be the loss of his goal-scoring from midfield. But Guimaraes adds this and then some.

Casemiro has scored five this season, which is bettered by Guimaraes, who has nine and four assists for Newcastle this season.

Guimaraes isn’t as dominant off the ball as Anderson would be, but his leadership cannot be questioned and would plug that gap with Casemiro’s impending exit.

Assuming United strengthen the midfield, having a character like Guimaraes would be huge in a potential title race next season. He also has the Matheus Cunha gene of passion and desire to win.
