Andre Onana left Manchester United to join Trabzonspor on loan for the 2025/26 season in September, and his Old Trafford future remains unresolved

Manchester United have been told by Trabzonspor that they will not pay between £40m and £43m for Andre Onana this summer. Onana moved to Old Trafford from Inter Milan in July 2023 for £43.8m with a potential £3.4m in add-ons dependent on performance and success.
However, a number of inconsistent performances and a string of calamitous errors forced United back into the transfer market for a new goalkeeper during the summer. Senne Lammens eventually joined from Royal Antwerp for £18m, and that transfer led to Onana moving to Trabzonspor on loan for the rest of the season.
Although Onana has made 21 appearances for the Super Lig club so far this season, they have no intention of meeting United’s valuation of £40m to £43m this summer.
“As the figure from Manchester United for the purchase of Andre Onana is in the range of €45-50m, our president has sincerely informed the community in line with Trabzonspor’s realities,” Trabzonspor vice-president Zeyyat Kafkas revealed to Gunebakıs.
“I don’t think this information affected Onana at all. Because Onana’s thinking is that if it’s not England, he wants to continue at a club in Europe.
“His family thinks the same way. The president also wanted to explain Trabzonspor’s reality. However, if the conditions change, the situation changes.”
It was recently claimed that Onana wants to fight to re-establish himself as United's No. 1 next season and believes he will be given a chance to do so.

And Trabzonspor’s manager, Fatih Tekke, has revealed that the Cameroon international will make his own decision about his future.
He said: “Onana is on loan with us. There have been matches where he didn’t play well. There have also been many matches where he played well.
“I’m very pleased with Onana’s positivity, not only in terms of performance but also in terms of character. You have transferred from one of the best teams in the world and you have experienced problems. He feels very comfortable here.
“The chairman’s words reflect Onana’s own thoughts. But this can sometimes change in a match. He is very happy here, but he will make his own decision about his future.”
