Manchester United have increased season ticket prices for a fourth year in a row with the Red Devils targeting higher revenue. The Old Trafford outfit have confirmed that prices have been increased once again by 5%.

Prices were previously frozen for 11 seasons, but are now going up on average by £2 per game for adults, while child prices are up £1 per game compared to last season. The decision comes after consultation with the club’s fan advisory board.

The lowest price for an adult general admission season ticket this season will now be £646, which is £34 per match.

A spokesman said: "This decision follows constructive discussions with fan representatives on the Fans’ Advisory Board and wider supporter groups. We understand the challenges supporters face – particularly with our matches’ dates and timings being rearranged after selection for broadcast – and we recognise the importance of a policy that is both fair and flexible.

"We are encouraged that the vast majority of season ticket holders are on course to meet their usage threshold this season, and Old Trafford and the team continue to benefit from a strong attendance and a vibrant atmosphere with very few empty seats."

Not all fans will see their prices increased, however, with it being confirmed that executive club members will have their prices frozen if they choose to renew before April 15.

United have already explained that the increase in ticket prices is to help the club in their ambitions to challenge on both the domestic and European fronts.

It comes after Sir Jim Ratcliffe explained that fans had complained about his decisions to cut costs at Old Trafford. He said: "It [the abuse] can be unpleasant.

“And I've probably failed on the having fun front. I mean, I can put up with it for a while. I don't mind being unpopular because I get that nobody likes seeing Manchester United down where they are, and nobody likes the decisions we're having to make at the moment.

"If I draw a bit of the ire, I can put up with that. But I'm no different to the average person. It's not nice, particularly for friends and family. So, eventually, if it reached the extent that the Glazer family have been abused, then I'd have to say, look, enough is enough guys, let somebody else do this.

"They can't really come to a match, the Glazers. They've retreated into the shadows a bit now, so I'm getting all the bloody stick. We bought in and I haven't seen them since.

"It's, 'Thank you, Jim, you're doing a really good job.' At the moment, I don't have security, I don't have to walk around like that. But it would defeat the object, wouldn't it? You couldn't tolerate it at that level, it just wouldn't be fun."
