Man United star happy to stay put at Old Trafford

Manchester United benefit from an extended break before their next match, as they do not feature in this weekend’s FA Cup fifth round ties.

The Red Devils were knocked out of the competition by Brighton and Hove Albion at the third round stage, and therefore do not return to action until they face Aston Villa on March 15.

Michael Carrick suffered the first defeat of his tenure in his side’s last outing, losing 2-1 against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park.

The Englishman will hope to see his side bounce back against Villa, but in the meantime it appears that the club are set to be handed a boost.

As per Football Insider, midfielder Mason Mount is not set to push for a move away from the club and is instead happy at Old Trafford.

Mount, 27, joined the Red Devils from fierce rivals Chelsea in 2023 and has since made 66 appearances for the club across all competitions, scoring seven goals and provided two assists.

The England international has struggled with injuries since arriving in Manchester, but had featured more regularly this season prior to picking up a knock in January.

Mount’s contract with the Red Devils is set to expire at the end of the 2027/28 campaign, and the report claims that the ex-Chelsea man is content at his current club and isn’t set to push for a move away from Old Trafford any time soon.

The midfielder – who cost United £55 million when joining from Chelsea two-and-a-half years ago – has missed 49 games for the club since making his move.

The report suggests that those in charge of United have little cause for concern, though, and that the player himself is keen to stat put at Old Trafford and fight for his place in the starting line-up.
