Newcastle United hero answers transfer question after £30m deadline day U-Turn & shock Aston…

Newcastle United latest news: Will Osula has spoken about his future at Newcastle United amid transfer speculation.

Will Osula has addressed his future at Newcastle United after being just hours away from leaving the club during the summer transfer window.

Osula was Newcastle United’s hero on Wednesday night as his sensational late strike secured a 2-1 win for the Magpies against Manchester United. That goal was just the 22-year-old’s fourth goal of the season and the first time he had netted in the Premier League since August.

His first league goal of the season came during Newcastle United’s dramatic clash with Liverpool at St James’ Park, however, just one week after that game, Osula was on the verge of leaving the club. Eintracht Frankfurt had agreed a deal with Newcastle United to sign him in the final hours of the summer window and Osula had even been given time to leave his international teammates to conclude a move.

A transfer to the Bundesliga side, worth a reported £30m, was pulled at the last minute though and Osula, who also garnered interest from Aston Villa in the final days of the window, remained on Tyneside. The former Sheffield United man has found game time hard to come by this season, with an ankle injury preventing him from featuring between November and February, but moments like he produced on Wednesday night have reminded everyone of the raw talents he possesses and why the club were keen to sign him from Brammal Lane back in 2024.

Will Osula answers Newcastle United transfer question

Having remained in the north east beyond the closure of the summer window, Osula was once again linked with a potential move away from Newcastle United in January. Frankfurt was once again listed as a potential destination for him, but no bid from the Bundesliga side was forthcoming.

It’s likely that transfer speculation surrounding Osula will once again rise when the summer transfer window opens. Asked how that talk last year affected him and his future on Tyneside, Osula responded: “Well, thank God I'm healthy and alive here now. I've had injuries, I've had a lot of ups and downs with different things.

“But that's football. So, thank God I'm here now, fully fit, no problems and I can keep going and keep running for the season.

“Well, I'm obviously at Newcastle and I have always been signed here, so that's been the focus until that's not the case. You know what I mean? But at this moment that's the case and my focus is fully on Newcastle and doing my best here and having an impact.

“I've had opportunities now and I'm playing more, so I'm really happy with that. I want to keep playing and get more opportunities. So, hopefully today can help me and push me on to play more and perform more.”

Osula may not have too long to wait before being given another chance to impress with Newcastle United set to host Manchester City in the FA Cup on Saturday. Osula netted his first ever Magpies goal in the FA Cup during a win over Bromley last season - with his left-footed strike into the top corner on that day an eerily similar finish to Wednesday night’s stunner.
