Andy Mitten has reported that Manchester United are looking at midfielders in Spain that will ‘raise eyebrows’ this summer.
Manchester United’s planned summer midfield rebuild seems to have a focus on Premier League-proven additions, but there could be hurdles in achieving this.
Elliot Anderson reportedly favours Man City, Carlos Baleba has probably played himself out of a move, and Adam Wharton isn’t what United need.
Due to this, United’s eyes could now be looking elsewhere, with Andy Mitten telling the Talk of the Devils podcast that targets in Spain are being considered, players who would raise eyebrows.
So here are four players to whom this tag could be applied.
IF Elliot Anderson signs for Man City, who would be your TOP PRIORITY midfield alternative?

Eduardo Camavinga
An absolute dream signing for United would be Real Madrid’s Eduardo Camavinga, with the Frenchman having long been targeted by the Red Devils.
Camavinga was wanted by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but he was always heading to Madrid. However, having now spent five seasons there, he is still just 23.

He would cost a lot of money, and Madrid won’t make it easy to sign him, but if at all possible, then he would be a massive addition and potentially the best on the market. However, the unfortunate thing is, he will only be coming if Madrid wants to get rid.
Pablo Barrios
Another potentially interesting option in Spain, which would be eyebrow-raising, is Atletico Madrid’s Pablo Barrios, who is among the finest in La Liga.
Barrios has been linked with United tentatively this season, and he would be a brilliant addition to the midfield department.
The Spaniard has that usual Spanish on-ball quality that would be expected, but he also has aggression, fight, and athleticism, which are needed in a Premier League midfield.
Barrios would be an exciting signing for United.
If you were Man United’s director of football with £200m to spend in the summer, what would be your dream window?

Marc Casado
United were linked with signing Marc Casado last summer, and since then, he hasn’t kicked on at Barcelona.
Casado has not been playing regularly, and therefore, he will surely be seeking an exit from the club this summer, and United’s midfield rebuild could be the perfect chance for him to kick-start his career.
The La Masia graduate is great as a defensive midfielder and would be perfect to provide some steel to midfield, potentially as a Manuel Ugarte replacement.
Aurelien Tchouameni
Another dream signing that would raise a lot of eyebrows is Frenchman Aurelien Tchouameni, who was another United missed out on.
United have wanted Tchouameni for years, and this summer might be when he seeks a new challenge as a player coming into his prime years.
Raphael Varane had tried selling United to Tchouameni, but there was no payoff to this effort. However, he would be a perfect fit for what United needs in central midfield this summer.
Certainly an eyebrow-raising signing, and he is much more attainable than Camavinga.
