Patrice Evra Reacts to Snoop Dogg's Swansea Ambition
Former Manchester United defender Patrice Evra shared his view on Snoop Dogg‘s ambitions for Swansea City. Evra welcomed the growing wave of celebrity and American investment in English football as a whole.
The retired French star supports Snoop Dogg’s ambitions to grow Swansea’s global popularity. He believes the American rapper could bring in attention and major sponsors to the club. Snoop Dogg is a popular celebrity that has built several connections outside the music industry.
Evra is eager to see whether Snoop Dogg can succeed with his vision for the Welsh club. Swansea currently play in the EFL Sky Bet Championship, which is the second division in England, one tier below the Premier League. The club sits 14th in the league table with 49 points and eight points back of 6th place Wrexham for a playoff spot.
Patrice Evra Supports Celebrity Involvement with Swansea City
Patrice Evra spoke openly about why he supports Snoop Dogg’s involvement in English football. The former Manchester United defender has followed the rapper’s career and admires his mentality.
Evra noted that most owners do not closely follow the sport or fully understand how to operate their clubs. He said it is refreshing to see someone like Snoop Dogg actually take genuine interest and become involved in the inner workings of his club.
“I’ve seen Snoop Dogg and a lot of America involvement in English football recently. A lot of older generation are asking, ‘What is going on? What is this circus?’ But this is the new generation. You have to adapt,” Evra told Stake. “These people are making serious money, so why not include them? Whatever Snoop Dogg has done throughout his career to stay at the top, that’s the same mentality he will do in his business with Swansea.”
He added:
“These people are going to create more attention, more sponsors, and more money for their clubs,” Evra said. “Most of the owners of football clubs know nothing about football, so I support these kinds of things.”

Snoop Dogg made his intentions clear about what he wants to accomplish with Swansea. He wants to increase investment and guide the club back to the Premier League.
“I want to be real hands on, I want to take the club in a direction maybe it hasn’t been before,” he told WalesOnline. “We want to take Swansea to the Premier League, and to do that we are going to need money. I want to introduce sponsorship deals and publicity that will make them a global name.”
The American rapper and businessman outlined his vision for the club. His friend Martha Stewart is also on board, along with AC Milan midfielder Luka Modric, who became a minority co-owner last year.
While a playoff spot remains a goal, Snoop Dogg stressed that Swansea is not a short-term experiment.
“Even though Swansea is a long-term project, we got to still dream for this season,” he said. “In the Championship, you always got to believe that [a] playoff [spot] is alive, in this game you got to dream.”
