Manchester United’s future plans for a first-team star have been revealed

Manchester United reportedly have no desire to sell winger Amad Diallo this summer, despite the Ivorian being dropped to the bench by Michael Carrick in recent weeks.

It is stated that the 23-year-old’s time on the substitutes’ bench has been caused by strong form by other players such as Benjamin Sesko, and the former Atalanta man remains a key part of the Red Devils’ future.

Amad has started 20 of the 23 Premier League matches for which he has been available this season amidst his AFCON exploits with the Ivory Coast, while the former Sunderland loanee has started in multiple positions including wing-back under previous head coach Ruben Amorim.

United have no intention of selling Amad - reports

Pete O’Rourke told the Transfer Insider podcast: “Amad is highly-regarded at Old Trafford. He’s been a regular in the side this season as well and he has been since Michael Carrick took charge, but he was just left out against Palace and Newcastle.

“That was due to the form of Benjamin Sesko, Carrick felt like he needed to get Sesko into the team and Amad was the one to drop out of the starting line-up. But he came off the bench in both games and I don’t think there’s any concern that he could possibly leave Man United any time soon.

“He’s under a long-term contract until 2030 and he’s probably the only out-and-out winger they’ve got in the squad at the moment as well. So I don’t think United are planning to let him leave any time soon, he is seen as the future of the club and has a key role to play going forward.”

Carrick speaks on Amad amid ‘dream’ revelation

Meanwhile, Carrick has spoken about the importance Amad has in his side as he continues to grow into a key role at Old Trafford.

Carrick said on Tuesday when asked about his selection decision: “It depends how you look at it. I understand what you’re saying, the competition, in terms of pushing each other, performance-wise, is important. It just pushes the level up.

“It keeps you playing on the edge, but not from week to week, where we’re really a fan of certain players, all of a sudden, and then, next week, you’re on the bench, and we don’t like you anymore. It’s really not that. It’s a little bit on certain games, certain types, certain strengths.

“Amad has been massive for us, massive for us. So it’s not a major downside that he didn’t start. He’s a big player for us. That’s our approach to it and the boys have been fantastic. I know it’s ended up keeping consistency with the team, but it doesn’t mean we can’t change things around or mean it’s a big fall-out or someone has had a bad game so they’re out of the team. It’s not necessarily that at all. The boys have been really good and the flexibility and rotations means we can change things around that’s great for us.”

He continued: “He’s another one, Amad, who is such a dream to work with. His attitude is so positive. He wants to learn, he wants to keep pushing. He asks for more – ‘what can I do more?’ or ‘how can I improve?’ He is desperate to do well and has been a huge part of the team. It will be the eye-catching bits sometimes, the bits we know he can bring, but, other times, it’s his work off the ball, defending. It’s huge to be able to do that for that kind of player.”
