Sir Alex Ferguson is set to release a new book focusing on his favourite memories in football.
Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that he is set to release a new book later in 2026.
Ferguson’s planned ‘Games of my life’ memoir is scheduled to be released in October, and it will feature unseen photographs from his life and career.
The book will focus on 21 separate football matches Ferguson recounts as the most meaningful to his life. And he has promised to keep everybody guessing.

Ferguson’s pledge
Sir Alex Ferguson’s 21 most memorable matches must include the Treble-clinching win over Bayern Munich in 1999, surely? Or the Cup Winners’ Cup victory against Barcelona in 1991?
But there are no guarantees. Ferguson has pledged that there will be surprises with his selections – which will be made for personal reasons.
He explained via a publishers’ press release: “I’ve selected 21 football games for this book which are particularly meaningful to me.

“The choices may surprise you because, rather than dwelling on the matches I’ve written about previously or those that might immediately register in the minds of fans, I’ve chosen games that take me back to different points in my life and which, even after the decades have passed, count for so much.
“Some of these games are not in any television archive. They are just memories. But, in my mind, I am watching them now – in vivid colour.”

Giving young people an opportunity is a fantastic thing and they very seldom let you down. These lads never let me down when they put that jersey on.

Ferguson’s matches could extend before United
It is highly probable that Sir Alex Ferguson’s choice of matches is not restricted purely to his 27 years in charge at Manchester United.
The memories could include his time as manager at Aberdeen, St Mirren, East Stirlingshire, or even his brief stint in charge of Scotland at the 1986 World Cup.
And they could encompass his playing days too, from his youth career to his spells at Queen’s Park, St Johnstone, Falkirk, Dunfermline, Rangers, Falkirk, or Ayr United.
Ferguson also represented Scotland during his playing days during an overseas tour.
The legendary figure has an incredible story to tell, and if you are interested in the life of the man who transformed Manchester United, his upcoming memoir should be essential reading.
