Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko is proving he can go stride-for-stride with Manchester City’s Erling Haaland.
Erling Haaland is the Premier League’s top scorer this season with 22 goals to his name, while Benjamin Sesko has eight goals, ranking him 13th in the charts.
But Sesko has not been a regular starter for United this season with only 1,300 minutes under his belt in the top flight.
In 2026, Sesko has been on a scoring streak, and the numbers behind his performances are promising.

Benjamin Sesko’s turnaround has been pretty stunning! Should he start the next game?
Benjamin Sesko is taking as many shots as Erling Haaland
No one in the Premier League has taken as many shots as Haaland has in 2025/26. According to Premier League statistics, Haaland has taken 81 shots. Antoine Semenyo is in second place with 58.
As pointed out by FBref, Sesko is exactly level with Haaland when it comes to shots on target per 90 minutes of football. Both Sesko and Haaland are taking an average of 1.86 shots on target per 90.
If Haaland is the elite standard in the Premier League, Sesko has proven his output in front of goal is up to scratch. With more minutes, Sesko might have a goal tally capable of competing with the City star.

Benjamin Sesko is thriving where Rasmus Hojlund failed
Sources inside Carrington are confident that Sesko is an upgrade on Hojlund, and his goal tally in his debut season is proving it.
Sesko is better at holding up play, is more of an aerial threat and is taking more touches of the ball than Hojlund did during his time at Old Trafford.

Hojlund averaged 0.47 shots per 90 at United which is a huge drop off from the numbers now being produced by Sesko.
Sesko has world-class potential, and he has the mentality to match. Ineos will be feeling smug about their decision to strike a £66m deal for him in the summer.
