Manchester United have reportedly added a new name to their midfield shortlist ahead of the summer transfer window.
It is understood United will prioritise a midfield refresh at the end of the season and could add two players to their squad in that position. There is a preference to sign at least one midfielder with Premier League experience as they aim to compete for both domestic and European honours next season.
Casemiro will leave as a free agent when his contract expires this summer and Manuel Ugarte could be sold amid continued interest in his signature. United view Elliot Anderson as their dream midfield addition, while there is also interest in Carlos Baleba, Adam Wharton, Sandro Tonali and Joao Gomes. There is also another new name on their shortlist, according to the latest transfer gossip.

Manchester United have reportedly added Nottingham Forest star Ibrahim Sangare to their summer shortlist as they aim to reinforce in midfield. A report from Caught Offside claims United have been impressed with his physical strength and tactical awareness and view him as a potential replacement for Casemiro.
The report adds that United might view Sangare as a 'cost-effective solution' in defensive midfield, with Forest only likely to demand somewhere in the region of £40 million for his signature. It is claimed Bayern Munich and Liverpool have both tracked Sangare in the past, while Aston Villa and West Ham are currently monitoring his situation.
In terms of other transfer news, The Peoples Person suggests United have a serious interest in Newcastle star Bruno Guimaraes and could attempt to sign him this summer. It is claimed United could be prepared to spend roughly £80m on the Brazil international at the end of the season if he is made available for transfer.
United will also look to reinforce at left-back this summer, and Team Talk claims they are interested in a move for Fulham star Antonee Robinson. They say United view the defender as a 'serious' summer target, but insist he would rather move to Liverpool if given the choice between the two clubs.
The other position United would like to address at the end of the season is left wing, with Marcus Rashford expected to complete a permanent move to FC Barcelona. Spanish outlet Sport has looked at the options United could replace him with and named Yan Diomande, Bradley Barcola, Iliman Ndiaye, Jesus Rodriguez and Martial Godo as potential replacements.
