Juventus eye summer move for 25-year-old Tottenham star who has already had a short stint in…

Star Tottenham defender wanted by Serie A giants in the summer.

Tottenham Hotspur are aiming to preserve their top-flight status this season. So far, interim boss Igor Tudor has proven to be suitable for the role of saving the club from sinking, with fans and pundits asking the Spurs board to get rid of him after three games.

Relegation would be disastrous for the Lilywhites as it would not only hinder their ability to attract top talent from across the world but also see several of their key players leave before the 2026/27 season commences. Several players from the current Tottenham squad have already been linked with an exit.

Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven have become top targets for several European bigwigs, while Spanish club Atletico Madrid have been showing an interest in Pedro Porro. Now, there is another Tottenham star attracting interest from a European club.

Juventus eye summer swoop for Djed Spence

According to Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus are interested in signing Djed Spence as they draw up a list of targets to strengthen their full-back position.

Djed Spence is the latest name on Juventus’ wishlist, which also includes AS Roma’s Zeki Celik and Michael Kayode of Brentford. The Turin giants could leverage internal connections to facilitate a move, with their sporting director Marco Ottolini previously having worked with the Tottenham full-back during their time together at Genoa. Ottolini played a key role in bringing Spence to Genoa on loan from Spurs two years ago.

The Tottenham full-back knows Juventus sporting director Marco Ottolini from their time together at Genoa. That existing relationship could be viewed as a significant advantage if the two clubs get involved in negotiations. The report adds that Tottenham have set a price tag of approximately €30m for Spence, a valuation backed by the new contract he signed last year.

An opportunistic signing for Juventus?

Spence has become a core member of the Tottenham squad since the second half of last season. The England international’s career was going nowhere at Spurs before an injury crisis led to former boss Ange Postecoglou giving him opportunities to impress, and he has not looked back since.

This has unsurprisingly put the 25-year-old on the radar of Juventus. If Spurs go down, it will be difficult to keep hold of Spence, especially now that he’s been capped by England. However, knowing how Juventus have traditionally operated in the transfer market, it wouldn’t be a shock if they fail to meet Tottenham’s €30m valuation of Spence and go for a cheaper alternative in Celik, whose contract at Roma expires in the summer.
