Four horses Sir Alex Ferguson has running at Cheltenham Festival 2026

Sir Alex Ferguson is hoping for a successful week at the 2026 Cheltenham Festival, where he has four horses running.

There’s no disputing that Sir Alex Ferguson will be remembered among football’s greatest managers, but nowadays, he is a prominent racehorse owner.

Following a decision to retire as United manager in 2013, Ferguson invested more time and money into his love for horse racing.

From a legal battle over the ownership of Rock of Gibraltar in 2003 to owning the record-breaking Caldwell Potter, Ferguson has been involved in horse racing for a long time. The 84-year-old will be hopeful of adding to his list of winners at the 2026 Cheltenham Festival.

Without further ado, here are four horses Ferguson wants to see win as an owner.

L’Eau du Sud

Previously trained in France, L’Eau du Sud was purchased by Ferguson, along with his frequent co-owners Ged Mason and the Hales family, in 2022.

Dan Skelton has been training the horse in Warwickshire ever since, and he has transitioned into an elite chaser.

Ferguson will have high hopes for L’Eau du Sud on Wednesday, when he competes in the Queen Mother Champion Chase.

Regent’s Stroll

Ferguson was part of an acquisition that set a new world record for the highest price ever paid for a National Hunt horse at a public auction when Regent’s Stroll became one of his many race horses.

Many punters believe Regent’s Stroll has a good chance in the Jack Richards Novices’ Chase on Thursday.

Trained by Paul Nicholls, Harry Cobden is the jockey challenged with getting the best out of Regent’s Stroll.

Il Ridoto

In comparison to Regent’s Stroll, Ferguson and his syndicate acquired Il Ridoto for a smaller fee, but he has become one of the Scot’s most consistent race horses.

Bought from France in late 2021, Il Ridoto was sent to train with Nicholls and will race in the Triumph Hurdle on Thursday.

Olive Nicholls will be on Il Ridoto’s back for the race.

Maestro Conti

Maestro Conti is a rising star in Ferguson’s horse racing ranks. Unlike Il Ridoto, who is a veteran, Maestro Conti is an exciting juvenile who has previously beaten some of the best young horses in the UK.

Harry Skelton will be the jockey on Friday when Maestro Conti looks to continue his impressive form in the Triumph Hurdle.
