Manchester United's owners the Glazer family have seen their fortune further increase in the last year. The wealth of each of the six siblings - Avram, Joel, Edward, Darcie, Kevin and Bryan - has jumped a mammoth $300million (£223m) over the last year.

They're now all valued at $2billion (£1.59bn), according to Forbes' new Billionaires List, placing them as the 2,052nd richest people in the world. The windfall comes at a time when the family's grip on United has been partially loosened, but their bank accounts have never looked healthier.

The American siblings, who have presided over a period of unprecedented turbulence and fan protest at Old Trafford, sold a portion of their 68 per cent share in the club to British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe in 2024.

The deal cost Ratcliffe around £1.5bn, with the INEOS chairman now overseeing all footballing operations at United. However, the Glazers still retain majority control of the club itself.

For the United faithful, the news will be a bitter pill to swallow. While the owners' wealth continues to soar, the Theatre of Dreams has famously been left to decay, with images of a leaking Old Trafford roof becoming a symbol of the perceived neglect under the Glazers' tenure.

The family's financial gain also stands in stark contrast to the club's debt situation, which has remained a focal point for the 'Glazers Out' movement since their leveraged buyout in 2005.

The latest Forbes data suggests that regardless of the team's performance on the pitch - where United have struggled for consistency in recent seasons - the owners are still reaping the rewards of their involvement in the Premier League giants.

The Forbes list, which tracks the world's wealthiest individuals, highlights how the sports industry remains a goldmine for billionaire owners. Avram and Joel Glazer, who remain the most visible members of the family at United, have seen their status cemented among the world's elite earners.

Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke is also featured, with a reported net worth of $22.2bn (£16.5bn). Liverpool owner John Henry joins the list as well, with a net worth of $5.7bn (£4.2bn).

Although the Glazers' wealth each stands at a comparatively low $2bn, the pressure from the stands is unlikely to subside. Fans have long argued that the owners have used the club as a 'cash cow,' and these latest figures will only add fuel to the fire for those demanding a full sale of the club.
