Manchester United have the chance to bring in some new faces this summer when the transfer window opens
Manchester United-linked Alejandro Balde is highly thought of by Barcelona, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano. The La Liga giants have no plans to sell the left-back this summer. Therefore, the Red Devils may need to look elsewhere for reinforcements in his position when the next transfer window opens up for business.
Michael Carrick remains in interim charge at Old Trafford until a permanent manager is found. The club’s hierarchy will be weighing up their options at this moment in time. They lost 2-1 away at Newcastle United in their last Premier League outing.
Manchester United transfer update regarding Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde
United have been linked with a move for Barcelona defender Balde at the end of the season. He could be seen by the North West giants as someone to bolster their options at the back. At the age of 22, he is a player with potential and has the capacity to improve in the future.
In this latest update regarding his situation, reporter Romano has said on his YouTube channel: “At the moment, all I can say is that Barcelona absolutely count on Balde. They see Balde as a crucial part of the project. They believe internally at Barca that Balde has huge potential so he’s not the final product yet. He’s very young and Barcelona believe that he can learn and develop a lot. At this stage, I don’t think Barcelona have any intention to let Balde go to Manchester United.”
Balde, who is a Spain international with seven caps to his name, joined Barcelona back in 2011. Prior to his move, he had spells at Sant Gabriel and Espanyol. He has risen up through the academy of his current club and was a regular for them at various different youth levels.
The full-back initially broke into their B team before making the step up into the senior set-up. He made his debut back in 2021 and hasn’t looked back since. The Barcelona-born man has made 160 appearances in all competitions to date, 34 of which have come in this campaign, and he has chipped in with three goals.
His contract expires in June 2028. Therefore, Barca have no rush to sell him anytime soon and can wait for the right offer to come in for his signature. As Romano has alluded to though, it appears he is in their plans for the future.
