Premier League star who Jason Wilcox wants to sign confesses support for Man United

Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White has added fuel to transfer speculation by admitting he grew up supporting Manchester United.

Reports last month claimed that Manchester United sporting director Jason Wilcox is pushing to sign Morgan Gibbs-White following his impressive growth at Nottingham Forest.

With Forest battling relegation, United have been linked to four Forest stars, including top transfer target Elliot Anderson.

But if Gibbs-White is also available, then a move for the 26-year-old should not be ruled out. Especially as it seems the player himself is keen to play for his favourite club.

Morgan Gibbs-White supports Man Utd and idolises Ronaldo

Speaking to Sky Sports Premier League, Gibbs-White was asked to pick between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. In his answer, he revealed his admiration for United.

“The Goat. Cristiano Ronaldo. What he’s done for the game is incredible. I’d say he is the best player to ever grace football,” Gibbs-White said.

“You can debate them both, but it’s always personal preference when it comes to them two.

Morgan Gibbs-White has flirted with Man United move

Earlier this season, Gibbs-White heaped praise on Ruben Amorim for his progress made at United.

“You know that grit and that determination to want and play for the badge I feel it is incredible to see it and I feel like it’s something that the league has missed,” Gibbs-White said in October.

Gibbs-White has shown his admiration for United despite playing for a Premier League rival, and it suggests he would jump at the chance to make a move to Old Trafford.

United are in the market for midfielders, but Gibbs-White’s preference to play in an advanced role would leave him competing with Bruno Fernandes for position.

On top of that, Gibbs-White is expected to cost around £60m which would take a large chunk out of the summer budget.
