Manchester United will be able to acquire some new faces when the summer transfer window opens up
Nottingham Forest midfielder Ibrahim Sangare is not a priority target for Manchester United, as per a report by Football Insider. They have been linked with a swoop for the player this summer. Aston Villa and West Ham are also said to be monitoring his situation amid his £43million price tag, according to CaughtOffside.
The Red Devils are sat in 3rd place in the Premier League table after 29 fixtures. They have nine games left to play before the end of the season. Michael Carrick’s side lost 2-1 away at Newcastle United last time out.
Manchester United stance on Nottingham Forest midfielder Ibrahim Sangare
If United signed Sangare from Nottingham Forest, he would boost their midfield department. He would give them more competition and depth in the middle of the park. However, it appears they may look at other options first and foremost.
Sangare, 28, is under contract at the City Ground until June 2028 meaning he still has a couple of years left to run down on his deal. He has been on the books of his current club since joining them back in 2023. However, they could now face a real battle to keep hold of him amid attention from elsewhere.
The Ivory Coast international, who has 56 caps to his name, has made 66 appearances for Forest in all competitions to date, 32 of which have come this season. He has chipped in with two gols as well. Prior to his transfer, he spent four years in Holland at PSV and went on to play 140 matches during his Eredivisie days. He rose up through the academy ranks at Toulouse in France.
Michael Carrick reaction to Manchester United loss to Newcastle United
United interim boss Carrick was disappointed to lose to Newcastle. Speaking afterwards, he said: "Bitterly disappointed. It hurts that tonight. We definitely came here in good shape, looking to get something from the game, if not win the game and we're disappointed with the way it panned out.
"We can be an awful lot better. We've put ourselves in a good position, a decent position with the performances and the results that we've had, so tonight hurts."
