Manchester United will look to freshen up their squad this summer when the next window opens up
According to Football Insider, Manchester United are ‘chasing’ Borussia Dortmund defender Julian Ryerson. The Red Devils are being linked with a move for the right-back this summer. However, they could face competition from rivals Newcastle United in pursuit of his signature.
Michael Carrick remains in caretaker charge at Old Trafford until a permanent successor for Ruben Amorim is found. The North West outfit are sat in 3rd place in the Premier League table. They have nine more fixtures left to play this season as they look to cement their position in the Champions League slots.

United could see Ryerson as someone to boost their defensive department. He would give them more competition and depth at the back if he joined. In addition, he could battle it out with Diogo Dalot for a place in their starting XI.
Ryerson, 28, is under contract at Dortmund until June 2028. That means he still has two years left to run down on his deal. His current club are under no pressure to sell him immediately and can wait for the right offer to come in for his services.
He made the switch to the Bundesliga giants back in 2023 and he has since become a key player. The Norway international, who has 39 caps to his name, has made 133 appearances in all competitions, 32 of which have come this season, and he has chipped in with seven goals. He rose up through the academy at Viking and broke into their first-team as a youngster before Union Berlin lured him to Germany.
After joining Dortmund just over three years ago, he said at the time: “It’s not easy for me to leave Union Berlin because I owe a lot to this special club, my teammates, the staff and the fans,” said Ryerson. “I will always have fond memories of my time at the Alten Försterei.
“Now I’m looking forward to a new chapter with Borussia Dortmund and would like to help BVB achieve its goals in the Bundesliga, the Champions League and in the DFB Pokal.”
