Federico Gatti’s future at Juventus is increasingly uncertain and it is turning into a major opportunity for West Ham and Nottingham Forest.
In February, TuttoSport spoke of interest from both the clubs in the defender. Sport Witness covered those claims, with Lyon also keen on bringing him to France.
Following that, the defender scored important goals for Juve in the Champions League and Serie A. Despite those goals, his future in Turin is far from secure.
Gatti could now be sold due to the Bianconeri’s financial concerns and need to bring money in.
Today’s TuttoSport takes a closer look, offering more hope to Nottingham Forest and West Ham.
€25m needed for Gatti
The Turin newspaper report that Juve are desperate to comply with the Football Earnings Rule. This regulation has been implemented by UEFA to make sure that clubs incur a maximum loss of €5m over three years. This is extendable to €60m only if covered by capital increases.
Juve are under scrutiny for that, which makes player sales a priority in the summer.
They had attempted to generate a total of €20-25m from the sales of Timothy Weah and Samuel Mbangula to Nottingham Forest last summer.
Those deals didn’t go through for different reasons and Gatti is now the likeliest candidate to leave.
The Old Lady want around €25m to sell him, which should alert West Ham and Nottingham Forest. The report confirms that the Italian is highly sought-after in the Premier League, pointing at interest from the two sides.
Our take on Federico Gatti’s situation
Federico Gatti

The 27-year-old has reached his peak and Juve want to make the most from his sale.
Due to Federico Gatti’s technical shortcomings, it is unlikely he reaches another level. Despite that, he remains a very useful defender, who can operate in a variety of formations.
He has also grown as a leader, which is one reason why he has stayed at the Bianconeri for this long.
This should make the Italy international a reliable squad player for West Ham or Nottingham Forest. Both teams play in a low-block and that setup usually suits Gatti quite well.
