Harry Maguire has claimed former Manchester United teammate Victor Lindelof didn't get the credit he deserved during his time at , describing the Sweden international as "an excellent player".
Lindelof spent eight years at United before leaving last summer. He made more than 250 appearances for United during his time at the club, winning an and a League Cup.
The 31-year-old was a regular in the United side for a number of years, making at least 35 appearances in all competitions in five consecutive years before his game time started to dwindle towards the end of his Old Trafford stay.
Lindelof played more than 100 games alongside Maguire, and the former United captain was asked to reflect on their partnership ahead of the visit of Lindelof's current side, Aston Villa, this weekend.

“I think Victor was an excellent player,” he told . “I believe he didn’t get the credit he deserved when he was playing at this club, although he obviously played so many games and he always played under managers. But he was an excellent player and we had an amazing relationship on the pitch.”
United finished third and second in the during Old Gunnar Solskjaer's time at the helm with Maguire and Lindelof the first-choice picks at centre back. When asked of their early years as a pairing, Maguire said: “The first two years I think, if I’m right, we kept the most clean sheets in Europe in the first year, and maybe second or third in the second season.
“We kept loads of clean sheets, we defended properly, we defended well. So I’ve probably played the most games with Victor, and I believe our relationship on the pitch was as strong as I’ve had with anybody.”
Lindelof's Villa visit Old Trafford on Sunday for a 2pm kick-off in what could be a key game in the hunt for football.
