Noussair Mazraoui looks set to be available for Manchester United’s upcoming Premier League clash against Aston Villa on Sunday, despite sustaining a knock last time out.
Manchester United had a brief break from fixtures last weekend after losing 2-1 against Newcastle at St. James’ Park.
Not only did the result mean United’s unbeaten run under Michael Carrick had come to an end, but Moroccan right-back Noussair Mazraoui was forced off in the 85th minute.
Carrick is not expected to provide a team update until Friday afternoon when he holds his pre-match press conference, but there are concerns over Lisandro Martinez’s fitness, meaning the Argentine may miss a fourth consecutive game.

Noussair Mazraoui takes part in Man Utd training
The race for a top-four finish in the Premier League is wide open after Aston Villa suffered a 4-1 defeat against Chelsea, so it is important that United can get back to winning ways by taking three points from Unai Emery’s side on Sunday.
It sounds like Carrick has been given a fitness boost, with United’s official website confirming that Mazraoui trained with the first-team group at Carrington on Wednesday.
Mazraoui came off worse after a challenge from Newcastle’s Joe Willock last time out, before William Osula got the better of substitute Tyrell Malacia from an attack down United’s left-hand side.

It’s great news for Carrick that Mazraoui was fit enough to train with the main group ahead of the game against Villa, allowing the 28-year-old to prepare for the upcoming match.
Mazraoui has played in six of United’s seven games since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations.

Noussair Mazraoui is unbeaten against Aston Villa
After missing United’s 2-1 defeat against Villa earlier this season due to AFCON, Mazraoui remains unbeaten against the West Midlands club.
Mazraoui has faced Villa twice since signing for United in 2024.
The first match ended 0-0, but United won the second match 2-0 at Old Trafford.
A similar result would be welcome on Sunday.
